A while back Matt and I had the opportunity to babysit our cute little niece, most commonly known as Gigi. She is such a cute girl and we had lots of adventures throughout the course of that day.
Mommy left a schedule for us and first on the list, Nap Time! She sleep for at least an hour and then woke up happy and smiling again. She really is a cute baby. That day our goal was to help her learn more words/noises. Turns out babies don't really talk on command very often so it ended up being more along the lines of the Matt and Jessica Farm Animals Show! We did successfully teach her to "oof" which was originally supposed to be a dogs "woof," however, it has now become the universal noise. Any kind of creature, animal or human she recognizes with an "oof!" Bigger animals get a louder, bigger noise, while smaller animals get the quieter version.
The first half of the day went well, we dumped out all her toys and made a huge mess! It was fun.
Don't believe that sad look on her face, she really does like me. It was just a badly timed shot. Odds are she had been crying with Matt and I was trying to make her feel better.
Look how cute! Oh . . . and Gigi's not bad either!
For some reason Gigi has some strange issue with Matt, sometimes are worse that others (luckily that day she did pretty well) but all around she just doesn't like him that much. Notice how she will let him hold her but keeps an arm on his chest to make sure he knows to keep some distance.
I guess she decided he's not that bad and giving him a hug was allowed! Aww . . .

The Confession:
Before we put her down for her second nap we figured it would be a good idea to change her diaper. So I found the mat to lay her on and we started the process, next thing we know there is a puddle underneath her that wasn't there before. This puddle soon turns into a larger puddle, then a pond, and ends up as a lake. Keep in mind she has been laying on her back through all of this, on top of a plastic mat nonetheless, so the entire back side of her is drenched, along with her socks that she couldn't seem to hold still. - Luckily the carpet was safe!
Obviously we couldn't lay her down to take a nap like that. Matt started searching through the closet looking for more clothes for her, pants were no where to be found. We did find lots of swimsuits, dresses, skirts, ext but it is a cool day in Alaska so none of these were going to work out. During Matt's search I start the water running to give Gigi a quick bath - I have to point out that we were not at our house and so I'm having to look through the cupboards and closets in search of a towel and different things like that.
We ended up giving her a bath and finding some clothes before she went down for a nap but it sure was an adventure. She must have known we don't have much experience. The rest of the day was great, we went for a walk and played until Mommy got home. Gigi was an angel throughout the whole day, she put up with us very well as we stumbled through all of the typical baby stuff that we don't know much about yet. It was definitely a day we look back on and laugh.
